Aha, so that's the psychology behind writing Anna's frustration!
I'm not a stepmother, but I have one. It's funny. She wasn't my favorite person when I was growing up (I didn't hate her and I didn't live with her, though), but now I'd almost rather have her around than my dad. She's absolutely great! So if you are having issues with the stepkids, perhaps that might give you hope! (well, not immediate hope, I suppose, but eventual).

Just to be clear, I think Dean's reaction to Anna is right on target for his character. I did NOT just put it in so I could explore stepmother issues. Now that it's there though it's great fun! *grin*
My own stepchild is an adult and is still working on reestablishing a relationship with her father after cutting him off years ago. I hold out no hope or expectation for myself...but if she wants to be a positive part of our lives at some point I am more than open to it. It's her choice though and I'm certainly not going to push her.
Sorry, Suk. I'm sure it's very difficult to be a stepmom, but I'm glad she's trying to reestablish a relationship with her father at least.
I've been a stepchild (two different sides) since I was in 5th grade, so it's pretty much a normal way of life for me! Maybe that's why I have little baggage to go with it.
Here's hoping for positive changes in 2008!

I'm a stepchild on both sides too. Big deal, right? My stepdaughter's issues arise mainly from her relationship with her own mom and her wish to be treated like the most important person in the universe. Not.happening.
Honestly her attitude doesn't bother me. It did a long time ago but she's only punishing herself and I come from such a messed up family that I have MUCH experience with people having to grow up before they realize what asses they've been.
So the wait continues... LOL
